TeleHealth visits are available at Glaucoma Center of Michigan!
Our physicians and health care providers are committed to providing a high level of vision care while also keeping you and the public safe. We are now offering TeleHealth visits for certain eye conditions. Having a “virtual” visit from the comfort of your home allows you to consult with your physicians or one of our technicians regarding your treatment while remaining safely at home.
If you are experiencing an ophthalmic issue, you may be eligible for a TeleHealth visit. Our technicians or physicians will do an online consultation via a secure audio or video interaction and bill the visit to your medical insurance, similar to an in-person visit to our office.
Call us at 248.356.0098 to give one of our experienced technicians a description of the issue you’re experiencing to determine if you are a candidate for this service. If possible, before your TeleHealth visit, download this visual acuity chart with instructions on how to check your vision in your home. This information will help the doctor in caring for your eye problem.
Frequently Asked Questions?
How will I talk to the doctor or provider during this visit?
TeleHealth visits ideally are done via video but can be done as an audio call as well. For secure video calls, a smartphone (or computer) with a camera is required to complete this consultation with our doctors. Audio visits will be done by both technicians and doctors. If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone, we suggest working with a friend or family member you may be with at this time.
What if I don’t have a computer or smartphone?
If you do not have access to a computer or smartphone, we still may be able to provide secure audio only TeleHealth. Call us at 248.356.0098 to give one of our experienced technicians a description of the issue you’re experiencing to determine if you are a candidate for this service. These audio only calls are also covered by your medical insurance, and we will bill the visit similar to an in-person visit to our office.
What if I’m not a current patient of your practice?
If you have a medical eye emergency, our doctors are here to serve you. Generally, TeleHealth visits are for established patients, but in some cases we may be able to provide emergency care for new patients as well. Please call so we can determine if this is an option for you. We are open to serve you in-person if your condition does not allow for a virtual visit.
How do TeleHealth visits work with my insurance?
Most insurance companies, including Medicare, have updated their policies for TeleHealth coverage. At this time co-pays may or may not be waived. Your TeleHealth visit will be billed to your medical insurance, similar to an in-person visit to our office.
TeleHealth visits are available for scheduling. Please note, COVID-19 is changing our business daily, and some of these services may or may not be available depending on the situation. Our availability and scheduling options may thus change anytime.
