Matthew E. Citron, D.O., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Matthew E. Citron, is an ophthalmologist who specializes in the consultation and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts.

A long time Detroit area resident, Dr. Citron received a B.A. in History at University of Michigan.  He then achieved his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University with the honor of most outstanding surgical extern.  Dr. Citron completed his internship in internal medicine through MSU while serving at Botsford Hospital.

Following that, he served as Co-Chief Resident in Ophthalmology through MSU at the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmology Consortium in Detroit, Michigan.  He then went on to serve as the Clinical Glaucoma Fellow at the Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Citron is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Michigan State University, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and an instructor of Glaucoma at the Beaumont Eye Institute.  Prior to joining Glaucoma Center of Michigan, he was at the Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Local Residency Program Director at Sinai-Grace Hospital.

He is currently on staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Eye Surgery Center of Michigan, St. John Hospital, the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), Botsford Hospital and Providence Hospital.

Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology, he includes American Academy of Ophthalmology,  American Glaucoma Society,  American College of Osteopathic Ophthalmology,  American College of Surgeons,  American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, American Osteopathic Association,  American Medical Association and both Michigan State and Oakland County Medical Societies as well as being Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.).

Dr. Citron has an extensive list of presentations and published abstracts including advancements in the subspecialties of glaucoma and cataract surgical procedures.
